Which case, and why?

In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Compassionate. May God bless our master Muḥammad. Praise belongs to God, who brought things into existence out of a non-existence and out of its non-existence, and made their existence depend upon the directing of His Word. He did this so that we might thereby realize the secret of their temporal origination and of their eternity, which derives from His eternity, and so that, in this realization, we might come to rest upon what He has made known to us of the sure footing of truth He has laid down.
