أَوْرَدَ عَلَيْكَ الْوَارِدَ لِيَتَسَلَّمَكَ مِنْ يَدِ الْاَغْيَارِ وَلِيُحَرِّرَكَ مِنْ رِقِّ الْآثَارِ

He sent the inrush upon you so as to take you over from the hand of the others, and to set you free from bondage to the traces.

Ibn ʿAbbād

الآثار والاغيار غاصبة ومسترقة لك وذلك لوجود حبك لها وسكونك اليها واعتمادك عليها فانما أورد عليك الوارد ليتسلمك من يد من غصبك وليحررك من ملكية من استرقك

Created traces and others are usurping you and holding you in bondage, and this is because of the love you have for them, your repose (*sukūn*) in them, and your reliance (*iʿtimād*) upon them. He sent the inrush upon you only to take you over from the hand of the one who usurped you, and to free you from the ownership of the one who enslaved you
