اذَا فَتَحَ لَكَ وِجْهَةً مِنَ التَّعَرُّفِ فَلَا تُبَالِ مَعَهَا انْ قَلَّ عَمَلُكَ فَانَّهُ مَا فَتَحَهَا لَكَ الَّا وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَتَعَرَّفَ الَيْكَ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ التَّعَرُّفَ هُوَ مُورِدُهُ عَلَيْكَ وَالْاعْمَالُ أَنْتَ مُهْدِيهَا الَيْهِ وَأَيْنَ مَا تُهْدِيهِ الَيْهِ مِمَّا هُوَ مُورِدُهُ عَلَيْكَ

When He opens for you a way into making Himself known, then, given that, do not be troubled that your works are few; for He has opened it for you only because He wishes to make Himself known to you. Do you not know that His making Himself known is something He brings to you, whereas works are something you present to Him? And what comparison is there between what you present to Him and what He brings to you?

معرفة الله تعالى هى غاية المطالب ونهاية الآمال والمآرب فاذا واجه الله تعالى عبده ببعض أسبابها وفتح له باب التعرف له منها وأوجد له سكينة وطمأنينة فيها فذلك من النعم الجزيلة عليه

Knowledge of God Most High (*maʿrifa*) is the goal of all quests and the farthest reach of hopes and aims. So when God Most High turns toward His servant with some of the means to it, opens for him through them the door of His making Himself known to him, and brings about for him tranquility (*sakīna*) and settled assurance (*ṭumaʾnīna*) in it, that is among the most abundant of His blessings upon him
