ṣūra (form)
The root ص و ر: Ibn Fāris says ṣ-w-r contains many words with unrelated origins and does not form a single domain of analogy. The one analogical sense he finds is 'inclining, making a thing lean.' He lists ṣūra, 'the form or configuration (hayʾa) of every created thing,' as a separate word.
The cosmos is the Real's form, the outward locus in which His names become manifest, and it is not a separate reality set over against Him.

al-ulūhiyya (Divinity)
The root أ ل ه: Ibn Fāris: a single root, taʿabbud (devotion, worship); ilāh is God, so called because He is worshipped. He expressly excludes aliha 'to be bewildered', which he assigns to w-l-h.
The level of Godhood that requires the divine names and their loci of manifestation, so that its full definition includes the cosmos in which it is manifest.

al-daʿwatayn (the two summonses)
The root د ع و: to incline something toward oneself by voice and speech (Ibn Fāris: an tumīla al-shayʾ ilayka bi-ṣawtin wa-kalāmin yakūnu minka)
The two calls are the summons to tanzīh (incomparability) and to tashbīh (similarity). Ibn ʿArabī holds that Noah called only to incomparability, whereas the complete call combines both, as in the Qurʾān.
How the tradition read it

taḥdīd
The root ح د د: Ibn Fāris gives two aṣl: prevention/restraint (manʿ) and the extremity or point of a thing (ṭaraf al-shayʾ) — a boundary that restrains, and a sharp edge.
Delimitation, setting a boundary or definition; any exclusive affirmation of either incomparability or similarity amounts to defining and thus confining the Real.

al-ʿārif (the knower, the gnostic)
The root ع ر ف: Ibn Fāris gives two sound roots: things following one another in a connected series (the horse's mane), and stillness and tranquillity (knowing, because one is at ease with what one knows).
The one who knows through tasting that what he witnesses in the divine mirror is his own self, not the Essence, as opposed to the one who imagines he has seen God.

The root غ ف ر: Ibn Fāris: the root's dominant sense is covering/concealment (satr), with a few anomalies noted separately (a wound relapsing, the young of a wild goat).
Ibn ʿArabī exploits the root sense of ghafr, 'covering', so that seeking forgiveness is also seeking to be veiled or covered. This prepares his esoteric reading of the people's response.

ṭabīʿa (nature)
The root ط ب ع: A pattern or limit at which a thing culminates and is thereby sealed (Ibn Fāris: مثل على نهاية ينتهي إليها الشيء حتى يختم عندها).
The elemental, natural constitution which, when dominant, veils the divine presence in forms; when quelled, the knower names the manifest 'a god' rather than 'nature.'
