The Book of Stations
About this text · the two printed editions, how the text was made, the translations compared
✦ A reading path: 15 of the Emir’s 372 mawāqif, “The Emir’s halts: law and light”. Vowels, roots and English: AI; not reviewed by a person; the English was compared with a specialist translation for three of the fifteen only (7, 30, 246; the other twelve have none to check against). How the text was made.
The path starts where the Emir asks for light and is sent to the Book and the Sunna (20), and sets the Law beside the Reality (75); the middle stations turn to the Real and the self (6–7, 30, 29, 31); the later ones take up mercy, patience and the one God (219, 218, 246), then war, the soul, the Hereafter, prayer and the Fātiḥa (73, 204, 76, 179, 203), and end on one dream (346, an excerpt). The order is the editor’s, not the book’s; it is a selection, and the other 357 mawāqif are not in the reader yet.
